Solitaire Free Games Online – Play Klondike, Spider & More

Solitaire is one of the most played card games in the world. No downloads, no sign up, no cost. Just open a browser and play. This guide covers the best free solitaire games online, how each version works, and where to play them right now.

Klondike Solitaire

The version most people mean when they say solitaire. Seven columns of cards, four foundation piles, one goal: sort every card by suit from Ace to King.

How to play:

  • Move cards between columns in descending order, alternating red and black
  • Flip cards from the stockpile when you have no moves
  • Build foundation piles starting from Ace upward

Why play it: Simple rules, satisfying when it clicks. The most beginner-friendly version of solitaire online.

Spider Solitaire

Harder than Klondike. Uses two decks instead of one, and the goal is to build complete sequences from King to Ace within the same suit.

Three difficulty modes:

  • One suit (easiest) — all cards are the same suit
  • Two suits — adds a second suit into the mix
  • Four suits (hardest) — full two-deck chaos

Why play it: More strategic than Klondike. If you find classic solitaire too easy, Spider is the next step.

FreeCell

Every card is visible from the start. No luck involved, almost every deal is winnable if you think it through. Four free cells at the top let you temporarily park cards while you plan your moves.

Why play it: The most skill-based solitaire variant. Good for people who want a puzzle they can actually solve rather than one that depends on the draw.

Pyramid Solitaire

A completely different format. Cards are arranged in a pyramid shape, and you remove pairs that add up to 13. Kings are removed alone.

Why play it: Fast rounds, different rhythm from standard solitaire. Good when you want something quick between other things.

TriPeaks Solitaire

Three overlapping pyramids. You clear cards by selecting ones that are one higher or lower than the current card, building chains to clear the board fast.

Why play it: The fastest-paced solitaire variant. High score chasing keeps it interesting longer than it looks.

Golf Solitaire

Cards are dealt in columns, with one card face up as the base. You remove cards that are one higher or lower, trying to clear as many as possible before you run out of moves.

Why play it: Short sessions, easy to understand, genuinely tricky to master. The name comes from trying to get the lowest score possible.

Tips to Win at Solitaire

Whether you are playing Klondike or any other version, a few habits separate consistent winners from people who restart every two minutes.

Always move Aces and Twos to foundations immediately. There is no reason to leave them in play.

Don’t empty a column unless you have a King ready. A space with no King to fill it is wasted.

Flip stock cards before making moves. Knowing what is coming changes which moves make sense.

In FreeCell, plan four or five moves. The free cells are a tool, not a dumping ground. Use them deliberately.

In Spider, build same-suit sequences whenever possible. Mixed-suit sequences block you later.

Can You Play Solitaire Free Online Without Downloading Anything?

If you are on a school Chromebook or a work computer where downloads are blocked, browser solitaire runs without any issues.
